People have always wanted to bend the laws of nature – we are no exception. We created our SG 2000 construction system – after working closely together with researchers at the Lund University of Technology – in order to avoid the limitations of beams and structural arm supports that interfere with the impression of glass and light. We were looking for optimum transparency.
SG 2000 is a mounting system that allows you a free hand in choosing glass, framework and geometrical design according to your own creative requirements, ability and daringness.
The system incorporates no outside mullions, and this results in large, homogenous glass areas of high transparency. SG 2000 is a structural glazing system using mechanical fastening of the inner glass in the IG unit, in a pocket fitted by the glass manufacturer. Our mounting technique is rotationally unconstrained and does not increase tension in the glass or induce edge pressure. This enables the glass suppliers to provide glass that is fully guaranteed and not affected by any on-site adjustments.
SG 2000 comprises elements of double glazed units sealed with silicon, otherwise known as thermo panes. The fastening points can for example be attached to pillars, beams and floor slabs of any material.
We have chosen to work with six basic types: SG Link, SG Distance, SG Profile, SG Rod, SG Light and SG 45+. In addition to these six basic types the system includes SG Window.
SG Link and SG Profile are assessed by NBI as being satisfactorily watertight for façades and roofs of 55 and 5 degree gradients respectively as per certificate no 08209. Details of conditions are given in the certification documentation. Testing certificates can be provided on request.
The mounting system is patented; patent no U.S.Pat:5802799
