The Glass Prize 2010.
2010-03-30
The motivation of the grand jury:
“The Glass Price jury has this year opted to reward a building with both
humor and great artistic skill exercised the many means of glass expression
for creating a new fashion store with a strong identity and elegance.
Glass Architecture has developed strongly in Sweden during the last ten years
and many solutions have been copied and repeated, but the definition of
K5-store drive development forward in an innovative and independent manner.
The department store is marked by ease and refers to red silk, white lace
and mist. One theme is the shift from opaque to transparent glass, which both
reflects and has depth. Another important means of expression is the skillfully
executed lighting, not least by the characteristic protruding roof underside.”
-“It is a great honor for SG to be rewarded such a prestigious prize. In the future
we hope that Swedish glass entrepreneurs can compete with projects produced
outside Sweden.” Jerker Lundgren CEO of SG
